New Application for Registration ...
The initial registration under the Meat Inspection Act of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) for slaughterhouses or meat processing and handling facilities in keeping with HACCP requirements. Registration is the first step in obtaining federal meat inspection services pertaining to slaughter, processing and packaging establishments, and for storages.
Whether you already own a building or intend to buy one, we evaluate the state of compliance of the establishment according to the applicable federal meat inspection requirements, before you assume ownership or undertake any construction or renovations.
We advise you on all pertinent documents needed for your application. We also supply and complete all documents required by the meat inspection authorities and submit them on your behalf.
We attend the regional inspector’s first visit to the premises.
We explain the preliminary inspection report made by the regional inspector and advise you on how to proceed with the recommendations.
For an existing building, we prepare the plans and specifications, incorporating any required changes or modifications in accordance with meat inspection regulations.
We can design new facilities, in accordance with your needs and ensuring compliance with meat inspection regulations.
When you erect a new facility or add to an existing one, while using the services of an architect or engineer, we provide input into the plans before they are submitted for registration with the appropriate meat inspection authority, to ensure they are in compliance with meat inspection regulations.
Should you not already have an architect or engineer for the construction or renovation of a plant, we can supply one for you and work closely with him or her from the beginning to ensure plans and specifications are conform to meat inspection regulations.
We inform you of all construction materials, packaging and chemical products which have received acceptance according to meat iInspection regulations.
We check the operation and set-up of your equipment, the design and construction thereof, as well as installation.
After all plans, specifications, as well as required application forms are completed, we meet with regional representatives to discuss their observations and recommendations. We then make the required changes if necessary. Furthermore, we meet head office representatives in Ottawa in order to obtain final acceptance.
We ensure that you obtain your registration number and license to operate as soon as possible.
We advise you of the special requirements of the EU, and draw up or review plans that will accommodate these requirements.
With your consent, we keep an extra copy of all your documents in our confidential files for future reference (sale, renovation, rental, etc.)
